Jelsa is located on the island and belongs to Splitsko-dalmatinska County. Place covers about 121 km2 and has about 3500 inhabitants. Area of Jelsa and the whole island has a well-indented coastline and many bays. The municipality includes 12 villages: Jelsa, Plitve, Gdinj, Poljica, Ivan Dolac, Zavala, Gromin Dolac, Svirče, Humac, Vrboska, Vrisnik i Zastražišće. Jelsa has a mild climate, with warm winters and pleasant summers. Virtually untouched nature situated in the bays, where they are located sand and gravel beach. The bays are ideal for family holidays.
