Formerly a centre of military events and the main defensive barrier from the Ottomans, which is visible in the remnants of a fort called Črvsta utvrda, Barilović is today a real inspiration for fans of speleology, archaeology, water sports, hunting and fishing. This region, without any industrial complexes, is a heaven for true nature lovers; with its beautiful Mrežnica and Korana rivers and their gypsum barriers, the waterfalls and clear water, forests rich in deer, the eco-village of Korana and numerous caves (Vražić Cave, Bubi’s Cave), to name a few.
Perjasica, in the municipality of Barilović, is a rich archaeological region which hosts one of the biggest sites of antique sarcophagi in Croatia.
